Watch out for...

It seems like everyone that has been with Google Adsense long enough will tell you that when Adsense started out, their payments to publishers were far, far higher than what they are right now. I think that as their web expands, so does the ability for cheap advertisers to buy 20 cent clicks from them and actually get exposure on big sites which do not have competing keywords, which in turn gives you 10 cents a click or so (which I would say is the average).

Right now, YPN has two goals, first one, carefully hand pick and select good publishers and second, get big advertisers on board. During their beta period, I strongly think that YPN is not so interested in making money as they are interested in showing that they are a strong competitor to Adsense. Therefore, YPN is most likely giving close to 100% of the profit to the publisher. They know that in turn, the 2000 publishers they have chosen will come into message boards like these ones and tell everyone about the high paying ads, which will in turn make everyone want to switch to YPN away from Google once it goes public.

Nevertheless, I dont think YPN will stay this good for much longer (I am a YPN publisher myself), but if YPN steals Adsense publishers, which they most likely will, I am sure Google will do something about that, and so, the war will begin (and thats without mentioning that MSN is planning a CPC project of their own).

I have made $900/day with YPN on a day Ive done $170/day with Adsense. I am sure many other people will agree with that ratio.

At the end of the day though, when all is said and done, I think that YPN will decrease, while Adsense will increase a little, and when MSN comes out, theyre all gonna try to meet at the middle of the road. What matters is what company works best for the target audience of your website.

Id probably give YPN another 6 months of glory, before these boards start flooding with the same kind of threads that Google publishers are posting nowadays in regards to revenues decreasing.

RE: Watch out for...

Great outline, however I do beleive that Yahoo as one of the internets main players are going to establish themselves as a major force in online contectual advertising far and above just trying to compete with adsense.

I also think that in the near future we will see some other strong competitors trying to also enter the markets on a regional basis.
